Ekaterina Levental werd geboren in Tasjkent, de hoofdstad van Oezbekistan, een der republieken van de voormalige Sovjet Unie.
Zij studeerde zang aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag en harp aan de Conservatoria van Enschede, Detmold (Duitsland) en Rotterdam. Voor beide behaalde zij het Master Diploma. Haar docenten waren o.a. Barbara Pearson, Maria Acda, Diane Forlano en Rita Dams(zang) en Germaine Lorenzini, Godelieve Schrama, Catherine Michel en Alex Bonnet (harp). Ze volgde Masterclasses en workshops bij onder andere Nelly Miricioiu, Charlotte Margiono en Jard van Nes.
Samen met harpiste Eva Tebbe vormt ze een succesvol duo genaamd duo Bilitis. De combinatie van twee harpen en zang waarborgt een grote afwisseling. Hun repertoire wordt gevormd door de originele composities en eigen arrangementen uit alle stijlperiodes.
Hedendaagse componisten zoals Jeff Hamburg, Chiel Meijering, Gerard Beljon, Boudewijn Tarenskeen, Daan Manneke, Oene van Geel en Gijs Dijk hebben voor dit duo werken geschreven en gewijd. Het duo is de winnaar van het Kamermuziekconcours Almere 2008 en de 5de Editie van het Uitmarkt Kamermuziekconcours Amsterdam. Duo Bilitis bracht in 2008 haar debuut CD uit op het label "Brillant Classics" met de muziek van Debussy, Franck, Ravel en Fauré.Naast dit kamermuziekensemble maakt ze deel uit van het Valerius Ensemble en het Ensemble TransCenturia. Als soliste in het concert- en oratoriumrepertoire trad ze op in belangrijke zalen in Nederland, o.a. in het Concertgebouw Amsterdam en de Philharmonie Haarlem.
Ekaterina werkte aan verschillende muziektheaterproducties zoals "L'Histoire de Larmes" (Belgische theatergezelschap Jan Fabre/Troubleyn, muziek Eric Sleichim, regie Jan Fabrie), de opera "Séraphin versuch eines theaters" (muziek Wolfgang Rihm, geproduceerd door VocaalLab en de Doelenensemble Amsterdam o.l.v. Arie van Beek), De Nederlandse Opera "Alzheimer" (Muziektheaterunie Almere o.l.v. Jurjen Hempel, muziek van Chiel Meijering), "Hans en Grietje" en "Oost=Oost+West=West" (Jeugdtheater Sonnevanck, muziek Gerard Beljon en Maarten Jense, regie Flora Vergrugge en Jim Lucassen), "Excellence in Exile" (Veenfabriek Leiden, muziek Ton van der Meer, regie Paul Koek), de opera "De Waterman" (Hollands Diep Dordrecht, muziek Hans Koolmees, regie Cilia Hogerzeil), de opera "DIEPVLEES" (co-productie WILco/ Nieuw West en Productiehuis Rotterdam, muziek Huba de Graaff, regie Erik-Ward Geerlings), de opera "Elektra" (geproduceerd door de Opera Spanga, muziek Richard Strauss, regie Corina van Eijk, o.l.v. David Levi).
Momenteel maakt zij deel uit van de vaste kern van VocaalLab zangers o.l.v. Romain Bisschoff. In de toekomst zal zij werken aan hedendaagse muziektheaterproducties zoals "Willem II" (Souvenier Muziektheaterproducties, muziek van Ruud van Eeten) "The Dog's Heart" (DNO, muziek van Alexander Raskatov) en "De Lege Wieg" Muziektheater Hollands Diep, muziek Seung- Ah Oh).Ekaterina Levental was born in Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan, one of the republics of the former Soviet Union. Due to a scholarship granted her by the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds and the Fonds voor Podium- en Amateurkunsten she continued her studies with Germaine Lorenzini in Lyon (France). After graduating for her harp studies she followed her passion for singing and started a new study Classical Singing at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Ekaterina finished both studied Cum Laude. She studied singing with Rita Dams, Barbara Pearson and Diane Forlano and followed workshops with Nelly Miricioiu, Charlotte Margiono and Jard van Nes.The last 5 years Ekaterina forms a successful duo called "Duo Bilitis" with the harpist Eva Tebbe. Right from the start the duo’s focus has been to find and create new music for all combinations between harps and voice. Their repertoire consists of music from the Baroque to the great impressionists and contemporary music, which has been specially written and arranged for the duo. Composers such as Jeff Hamburg, Chiel Meijering, Gerard Beljon, Boudewijn Tarenskeen, Daan Manneke, Oene van Geel and Gijs Dijk have written for and dedicated their pieces to this duo.
Duo Bilitis performed during numerous chamber music series and music festivals in Holland and abroad and is a winner of International Music Chamber Competition Almere 2008 and of the Uitmarkt Chamber Music Competition Amsterdam 2008. The duo released their debut CD in 2008 with the works by Debussy, Franck, Ravel and Faur".As a soloist in the concert, opera and oratorium repertoire Ekaterina performed at reknowned halls, theaters and venues in the Netherlands and abroad, such as Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Philharmonie Haarlem, Anton Philipszaal Den Haag and Steinbruch Ibbenbüren (Germany).

In 2009-2010 she will partake as a commissioned member of VocaalLab Amsterdam lead by Romain Bisschoff. Her future commissions include the solo- parts in the new operas "Willem II" (Souvenir Muziektheaterproducties, music by Ruud van Eeten), "The Dog’s Heart" (De Nederlandse Opera, music by Alexander Raskatov) and "De Lege Wieg" (Musical theater Hollands Diep, music by Seung- Ah Oh).
